It’s time to be your own business guru.
You have a lot more power to control the course of your life than you think. Don’t give that power away by looking to someone else to create your success.
Create it yourself.
Think for yourself.
Act on your own ideas… your own hunches… your own gut feelings.
In my opinion, the greatest power you have as an entrepreneur is your ability to focus on creating what you want.
And listening to all of the “pied pipers” out there about how you should be successful is a focus killer.
I’ve been there…
“Oh, this course can get me where I want to go.”
“I can make that investment back in no time.”
“If I learn just one thing to apply to my business this will be worth the price.”
Now I know that buying all of that stuff creates a diversion that will keep me from ever getting where I want to go.
Think less…
Learn less…
Do more…
In the end, more doing will actually help you learn more of what actually matters - and what matters is what works for YOU.
Nothing else really matters. Unless you just want to be entertained by reading someone else’s story of success.
This is not to say you shouldn’t be learning. Especially if you actually need to get some practical internet business skills. But in the end, I think learning is overrated.
Doing is underrated.
At this point in time, I don’t have time to watch anyone’s 45 minute free video.
It’s not free, because my time isn’t free. Every minute I watch someone else’s “free” training is another minute I’m never gonna get back to actually do something to change my life.
It’s kind of interesting to watch internet launch sequences bloat into these huge “free” trainings that no one who is actually running a business has time to review.
Instead of providing better value, it’s just easier to provide “more” stuff.
Pretty soon, I imagine that’ll stop working - if it hasn’t already.
I’m not here to be a “guru” hater. I used to think more like that, but that was just my own immaturity talking.
And it was just an easy target to vent my frustrations onto.
In the end, it was all MY fault.
In order to “become” a guru, you have to have a willing audience. You have to have a large enough group of people who are happy to follow your “guru-ness.”
And that’s the whole problem. Because “regular” people sell themselves waaaayyyy short and instead of coming up with their own answers, start looking around for a guru on top of a mountain who they can pay to give them “answers.”
I was one of those people for quite some time.
But not any more.
Here are a few things I’ve learned and try to remember each time I’m faced with a choice about what to do with my time:
-You can do this. You can build a profitable business online. It’s not rocket science.
-You don’t need 45 marketing courses to tell you how.
-Remember this before you buy the next silver bullet marketing system: Just how effective is any one strategy if a bazillion people are using it?
-Just how effective is any one thought process if a bazillion people are attacking a particular challenge (like Google AdWords) with the very same one?
-Stop looking to other people for your answers. They do have answers, it’s just that their answers probably aren’t the ones you need.
-The greatest learning comes from doing. Mistakes aren’t things to be avoided because no learning comes from that. Mistakes are opportunities to create your own path. And that can be very, very profitable.
One more thing:
Be prepared for some turbulence when you stand up, reclaim your power, and start building your own life the way you want it to be.
Some people aren’t going to like that. Because it means they’re about to lose control of your mind. And your wallet.
Good luck!
